A Research Associate position is available in the College of<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Information Sciences and Technology at The Pennsylvania State U, U<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Park Campus. This position will help build tutors to understand<\/p>\n\n\n\n
learning about maintenance and other procedural skills. The applicant<\/p>\n\n\n\n
should have, or be scheduled to complete, a Ph.D. in psychology,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
computer science, industrial engineering, or a related field by the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
time the employment starts. Candidates should have technical skills to<\/p>\n\n\n\n
use the tutoring system and an interest in learning theory and<\/p>\n\n\n\n
modeling. Programming skills can include: Ruby, Java, Lisp, ACT-R, R,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
or related languages. Relevant knowledge include how to run studies,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
statistical analyses (regression preferred over anova), and<\/p>\n\n\n\n
writing. The work would include extending and maintaining a tutor and<\/p>\n\n\n\n
tutoring language and associated tutors, helping to build new tutors,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
testing the tutors through usability and learning studies, and<\/p>\n\n\n\n
presenting the results in a variety of forms. This is a fixed-term<\/p>\n\n\n\n
appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with the<\/p>\n\n\n\n
